2008 BLISS TOUR

Guruji is on a tour of USA in May & July . The opportunity to be with Him, is NOT TO be missed by anybody. Especially folks who have experienced His Sudharshan Kriya. Money and Time are the top excuses people give to NOT make it to these events and be with HIM.

Guruji once said ( not verbatim) the money that has to be spent will be spent, it is upto us to spend it on Sattvic activities like these. Also it has been my experience and many thousands of devotees all over the world - the money and time that you spend for such rare events will come back to you in multi-fold. If, right now, your mind says “its IMPOSSIBLE to spend this kind of money or IMPOSSIBLE to leave work, kids, pets and go to meet Guruji “, i tell you for once act against your MIND and see what happens, it will be a turning point in your life, you will be breaking a big pattern in you life . You will STEP INTO THE BIG MIND . JaiGurudev.

I sincerely request you all to come and be in the presence of Guruji. His love for us is Soooooo..Much that he keeps running after us and comes to USA :-), come lets all Laugh Sing Dance & Meditate with the Divine.

By His Holiness Sri Sri Ravishankar

Honoring the body is Yoga.

Honoring the mind is Meditation

Honoring the breath is Pranayama.

I found this cool image in a flyer , wanted to share it with you all :-)

There’s no word called ‘God’ in yoga’ Bhakti Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Karma Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Mantra Yoga… the list goes on and on. For most Indians (and for many in the West as well), the practice of yoga has almost become a way of life. A healthier life.Yet, two churches in Britain have banned a group from conducting yoga classes, terming the ancient practice as ‘un-Christian’ and a ‘sham’.

Even though the practice did originate in India centuries ago (the word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’ which means to ‘unite’, the union being that of the individual with the Universal Spirit, or God), does that make it more Hindu in ideology?

In other words, does it make it ‘un-Christian’?

Yoga is about attaining a blissful state of being. Agree that it was invented by a Hindu, but that was by default. Just because electricity was discovered by a Christian, is it wrong for a Hindu to use it? For that matter, why are we eating burgers when our indigenous food is the vada-pav? This entire controversy questions the so-called ‘liberal’ mind of the 21st century, yoga is a process, not a dogma. Which is why yoga has not become a religion or a cult, despite its popularity.

It is unfortunate that even in the 21st century, superstition still prevails in some churches. This reminds me of an imam who issued a fatwa against TV, saying that Satan has entered television. Practices such as yoga which promote health and happiness can never be against any true religion. Yoga has been diluted by many and marketed as a mere physical exercise.

To restrict yoga to a particular religion is limited thinking. Yoga goes beyond boundaries, it is followed all over the world. It belongs to the whole world that is the kind of broad vision the practice of yoga gives. Everybody leads a stressful life today, whether one is a Hindu, Muslim or Christian. The benefits of yoga affect everyone.

My interpretation based on a 4SEP07 TOI report

Excerpt from 1990 Guru Poornima talk by Guruji.

Hymkara Shrimkara Rahasya Yuktaha, Hreemkara Gudartha Maha Vibhutyaha
Omkara Marma Prati Padhi Needbyam, Namoh Namah Sri Sri Gurupadhukabyam

Students are all over , disciples are few, but Devotees are rare. There is nothing great in becoming God but it is great to become a Devotee. Attraction is somewhere , love is everywhere but devotion is very rare.

Devotion is very beautiful. a student comes to the master with tears in his eyes when he leaves also he has tears but the quality of the tear is very different , still tears flow , it is of Gratitude , of Love. If one has cried even once in love they know what is devotion , what is surrender,  the entire creation rejoices.

One of Buddha disciple Sareputra got enlightened.  When he got enlightened Buddha told him go to the world and teach , but Sareputra was crying and crying and crying . People asked him , you are enlightened but why you are crying ??

He replied , “who cares about enlightenment. it could have waited. i did not even bother about it , I never asked for it . But the joy of being at the feet of Buddha was so great . being a devotee was so great and i am missing it. I would have preferred that for enlightenment.”

Love and Gratitude to our dear Guruji Sri Sri. Jaigurudev

Swami Yogananda is a 99 year old Yogi who in association with Art of Living Foundation travels around the world to teach his style of yoga called ‘Sukshma Vyayama’.

Swami Yogananda has never taken medication in his 99 years of life on earth. He is such an expert at preserving the energies he gained through yoga that he eats only once a day, and after three days of food he takes up fasting for a week! Physically he is very much fit and healthy, mentally alert as well. He’s learning the English language at this age and hopes to write a book on yoga!

Guruji :

1. Know that the person that you are jealous or envious of has done some good karma in the past and they are now reaping the fruit.
2. Take it as an inspiration to gain merit now.
3. Create a sense of belongingness with them. See that they are a part of you.
4. Think of all you have that they don’t have and feel grateful.
5. Ananda says, “Observe the sensations.”
6. Join hands and form a team with them.
7. Realise that in the current of moving time all will perish.
8. Think of everyone that is jealous of you for what you have.

Stephano added: “And see that all that people envy you for has not brought joy anyway.” Stephano: “Go and ask them ‘are you happy?’ ” Caroline: “And what if they say ‘Yes?’ ” (Laughter!). If the answer is “yes” then they must be in the Art of Living (Laughter!)

(Ananda :”What to do if others are jealous or envious of you?”)
Guruji :

1. Praise them in superlatives.
2. Create a sense of belongingness in them by your kind actions.
3. Know that their feelings are temporary.
4. The best is not to recognise their envy or jealousy at all. If you recognise a feeling as a reality it only makes your ignorance grow.
5. Know all feelings and emotions are just like passing clouds.
6. Do not show off your talents to them.
7. Know that they are puppets. They will all perish like apples and tomatoes - just a longer shelf-life (Laughter!). If nothing else works just go to sleep

(Shirley: “And don’t forget to take a pillow”).
